Self Catering Holiday Cottage in Glencoe

Built around the end of the 19th century the property is an attractive traditional slate-roofed semi-detached cottage situated in one of the most picturesque of Scotland's glens. The cottage has magnificent views overlooking the Pap of Glencoe, the Mamore Range and Loch Leven and is an ideal location for an active or relaxing break.  

The cottage comfortably sleeps up 4/6 people, 2 groundfloor bedrooms and shower room, all rooms are either wooden or slate floored and equipped with electric storage heaters (all power included in hire).

A warm welcome awaits you with tea and coffee, and a pint of milk on arrival. The Fire will be set ready to light . Additional coal/wood can be purchased locally from the garage /shop. Friendly help available nearby if needed. Real home from home in a cosy full of character cottage combining traditional features with modern conveniences such as wifi and a dishwasher.

Entry to the cottage is through the heated slate floored porch, which has sufficient coat hooks and shoes racks, and can be used as a drying room.

Breakfast/Dining Room
This room has a dining table and 6 chairs and features a traditional freestanding solid fuel stove, just right to snuggle in front of after a winter walk! Also in this room is a portable CD/radio with a growing CD and book library. There is also a remote control TV. The room is open plan to the kitchen and a door gives access to the rear garden and patio area.

The kitchen is small and cosy but very well laid out and lit with all implements expected in a modern kitchen. There is an electric oven and gas hob, microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle and toaster.  

This bedroom is situated just off the breakfast/dining room. It is slate floored and tastefully decorated, with 1 double bed, chest of drawers, bedside drawers  and built in wardrobe.  

This room is situated just off the porch/hallway. It is wooden floored with an open frame ceiling with bare timbers. It has 2 single beds, bedside drawers, chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There is a ladder with handrail and balcony rail leading to a small mezzanine level with low ceiling. There is a double matress on the floor for extra sleeping.

The lounge is situated on the first floor.  It has the best views over Loch Leven and the surrounding hills.  It is small but cosy with free WIFI, a flastscreen digital freeview TV/DVD and a small DVD library. There is a sofa bed that can be used to accommodate 2 more people, if required. The lounge also has a patio door leading to an external staircase to the rear garden.

Shower Room
The shower room is fitted with a W/C, sink and an electric shower, with heated towel rail and wall heater.

There is a large enclosed garden to the rear . A patio area with rising terraces (small children beware), then gently sloping up away from the house. There is a picnic table,  garden chairs, BBQ  and a rotary clothesline for your use. To the side of the cottage is an old open cow byre which provides off road parking and a side gate into the rear garden. Storage for guest bicycles available.
Part of the cottage's charm is that there are interesting features such as a couple of low doorways and a short but fairly steep staircase to the upper lounge. Please take care and remember to 'duck' at the right times!

Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement at £15.00 for 1 dog and £20.00 for 2 dogs a week. Or £2.50 per day for 1 dog and £3.50 per day for 2 dogs for short breaks. Owners must provide suitable bedding for their dog. Dogs are not to be left unattended in the cottage or grounds at any time and must not be allowed on any furniture and beds. Please clear up very carefully after your dog indoors and out, the next guests may not be doggy people.

Linen and Towels
The beds will be made up ready for your arrival with a sheet, pillows and duvet. A bath and hand towel per person, kitchen hand towel, tea towel and oven gloves are also included in the hire.

Toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, sponge/cloths and some dishwasher and washing machine tabs are included to start your week well. A travel cot can be provided, but unfortunately we have no high chairs.
